Marine Lenders Advisory Council

Overview

The Marine Lenders Advisory Council (MLAC) is comprised of a group of emerging leaders within the U.S. marine finance community. The group assists with recommendations, provides fresh perspectives, and supports NMLA leadership via the Board of Directors and its committees. Supporting key activities and initiatives throughout the year include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide input and contribute to the planning and execution of the annual Marine Lending Workshop held each Spring.
  • Participate in all planning aspects of the Annual Marine Lenders Conference and partake in onsite meetings and projects regarding same.
  • Promote and contribute ideas to educational webinars and social media efforts to help drive value for NMLA members.
  • Assist with the preparation of the Annual Statistical Report as needed.

All members of the Council serve on a volunteer basis and work together to further the mission of the NMLA. Serving on the Council provides an opportunity for members to deepen their understanding of the marine lending industry and the broader boating industry at large, strengthen their professional network, and develop new skills and knowledge across functional areas of NMLA’s business operations. Being an MLAC Council member is rewarding both professionally and personally.

Mission

Provide recommendations, insight, and support for key directives and initiatives set forth by the National Marine Lenders Association Board of Directors.

Vision

Empower Council members via experience, access, and opportunity to impact the future of marine lending in the United States.

NMLA Board Expectations

MLAC members are asked to work as a strategic team to help advance the mission of the NMLA: Promote, Improve, and Grow the Recreational Marine Lending Industry within the United States. Achievement of this strategic objective can be accomplished by the following:

  • An MLAC member should be appointed to each NMLA committee, in particular the Sponsorship, Membership, Conference and Workshop committees. MLAC members will serve as mentees under the committee chair.
  • An MLAC member should attend either the workshop or the annual conference each year.
  • An MLAC member must serve on the Council for a minimum of one year before applying for a board position.

Member Benefits

  • MLAC members will have an assigned page on the NMLA website.
  • MLAC members will be included within the annual conference program and introduced at the event each year by the NMLA President or Executive Director.
  • NMLA will host one MLAC event (such as a networking session or happy hour) during the workshop or the annual conference.
  • NMLA Committee chairs will send personal thank you notes to the MLAC member’s manager or company principal in recognition of the time and support given to the association.
  • MLAC participants will have the opportunity to organically network with the NMLA Board of Directors and engage with association members.
